They're bouncy, bouncy, bouncy, bouncy, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun

We had a wonderful Easter today and we hope you all did, as well. It's been quite a while since I posted a blog, so I thought I'd share a little bit about today.

We were able to see both families, starting out with mine this morning in Chandler and finishing up with Brian's this afternoon in Surprise. Carolyn was such a trooper the whole day. Although she was completely off her schedule, she still napped for an hour and a half for us at Kara's. For anyone who is not familiar with the historical sleep patterns of this child (and how easily they can fall victim to a wacky schedule like today's), that's definitely something to be happy about. It was good, too, because she was rested and able to have a blast playing with her cousins (and all their toys, on which I'll elaborate shortly).

Brian has posted a bunch of photos from today in the album to the right. Please check them out, some have captions. I can't say it enough, we had a fantastic day with all our family. Thanks to everyone who fed us and spoiled Little C.

Speaking of the spoiling, it hardly needs mentioning that Carolyn received quite a few gifts today from her parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc. At the end of the day, what did she love the most?

Why of course this Tigger doll that belongs to Addison and has been played with so much that the batteries are now kaput:



Carolyn found this Tigger in the playroom earlier in the afternoon. She never seemed especially taken with it, but boy did feelings change when it was time to go. She latched on to him and REFUSED to let him go. Of course Carolyn leaving the house with one of Addison's toys didn't sit too well with Addison. I felt bad, but Kara assured us that Addison never plays with him and that he would be able to spend a week at our house.

Carolyn played with Tigger the whole car ride home. She made him clap his hands, made him bounce, gave him kisses. She was so happy with him, and I have to say, it was the cutest thing ever.

We'll return Tigger next weekend when we head back out to Surprise for Addison's third birthday party. Hopefully the infatuation will have worn off by then. If not, I see the purchase of a jumping Tigger in my near future...

Cute baby walking

On March 4, Carolyn decided it would be acceptable to walk from the stove to the fridge. This was the first significant bit of walking she had done since her very first steps on Feb. 21. And I got to see it! Since then, she's been walking more and more. We got out the video camera last night to catch the fun. Compare this to the last video we posted and you can see she's gotten much more steady and controled on her feet (for the most part). You'll also see in this video just how much all this walking business excites mommy! I just love seeing her toddle around, and I can't believe what a little person she's becoming!

Here she comes

We took this video yesterday morning before I left the house to go to a baby shower. We've known for a while that Carolyn was *this* close to walking on her own. It was just a matter of time. Well, fast forward not more than an hour later (when mom is in the car and driving down the street) and she takes four steps on her own. Brian called me and said "You're not going to believe this..." 

So, now the world knows she can walk on her own as a brand-new way to get from A to B. But *will* she? That's the thing with C. Her will. If it's not her will...forget it! Since yesterday we've seen her take a few steps here and there on her own, but she's still very much attached to our hands when it comes to walking any great distance (say, from the couch to her little house). At this point I think it's mostly a courage and comfort thing. She wants to feel completely secure before she's going to venture out and become a full-blown walker.

A stubborn baby...

Jen and I went out to dinner last night for her birthday and Valentine's day and as you can tell from the video, Carolyn didn't quite want to cooperate with Grandma:

But seriously, Brian set us up with a new blog that will be much easier for us to update. That's good news for me, because I love sharing new photos of Little Miss C. It's good news for you, too: the people who love looking at new photos of Little Miss C (and really, who doesn't love that).

I'm going to try to blog more frequently on here, too. That way you all can know lots of things, like the fact that Carolyn is budding a little attitude. One that makes her throw fits when it's time to get in the high chair for a meal, or on the changing table for a new diap. I'm hoping that this recent development may have something to do with all the teeth that are in various stages of arrival in her little mouth. Otherwise...boy are we in for a ride. (We're probably in for a ride no matter what, but she's worth it!)
